Microsoft Word generally opens a 'Letter' (11" x 8.5") size page by default when it is first launched. The default margins are top & bottom 1" and left & right 1.25". The formatting of the document built on 'Letter' size paper looks odd when printed on most popular A4 page because the size of the A4 page is 8.23" x 11.69". And then the document must have some extra space to its left side so that the binding stitches don’t obstruct the reader from reading the document comfortably.
So, we should make MSWORD open A4 page by default with margins top, bottom & right 1", left 1.5". It will relieve us from changing the page size and formatting every time we create a document in MSWORD print in A4. So how do we do that?
| 1. Well, launch MSWORD. There will be a blank document opened in front of you. This is the 'Letter' size page MSWORD opened by default. Now go to 'File' menu. Click on 'Page Setup'. There will be three tabs in 'Page Setup' dialogue. |

| 3. Now click on 'Margins' tab. In 'Margins' section set the values of 'Top', 'Bottom' & 'Right' to 1" and 'Left' to 1.5". Upto here our page is being set to A4 with required margins. We need to make this default so that MSWORD opens this page size with the exact format from next time onwards. |

| 4. Ok, here we go. Just click on the
'Default' button at the bottom left of the 'Page Setup' dialogue
already open on the screen. There will a small caution dialogue
flash on screen asking "Do you want to change the default
settings for page setup?" Click on 'Yes' and we are done.
5. Next time we will get the our desired page size with desired margins when we launch MSWORD.
